Discovery Gospel Choir – Africa Day 2010

Formed in 2004, Discovery Gospel Choir was Ireland’s first integrated Gospel choir. Its members hail from all over the world, including Ireland, Botswana, Cameroon, Congo-Brazzaville, China, England, Kenya, South Africa and Uganda.

The choir has a strong ethos of reconciliation, development and integration and has campaigned for ‘Make Poverty History’. In 2008, Discovery Gospel Choir featured on the anti-racism single, ‘We People (Who are Darker than Blue)’ by Sinead O’Connor and the Republic of Loose.

Sahaja Meditation – Gospel Music with Yoann

Yoann Freget has been a singer since his childhood. Yoann performed in one of the most famous Gospel choirs in Europe, “Gospelize it! Mass Choir” directed by Emmanuel Djob, for three years. He has led his own Gospel choir "Le Choeur Enchante" and has been giving singing lessons since 2006. He has started to gain a deep understanding of the essence of African-American music and he really feels that through the Power of Love, this music can dissolve all the artificial barriers between human beings such as race, religion, or nationality. For Yoann the music especially African American music holds the key to transforming humanity on a deeper level. He discovered that because of its unique rhythm, its liberty of expression and improvisation African American music can be a potent vehicle for preparing people for deep meditative experience.

My home town has lost one of it’s oases:

The record store Musik Hjørnet closed on June 16th 2007 – it was a day of moaning.

It’s a sign of the times, however: The traditional record store will disapear before the sausagestand does.

But there’s hope: It’s coming from speciality stores like Kaffe & Vinyl, that mixes the sale of rare records, love of music and "damn good coffee" – yes, I picked up a copy of the Twin Peaks soundtrack from Musik Hjørnet yesterday .

Unfortunately this trend will, most likely, not migrate to small citys, like Taastrup.
